Tomorrow, the big day!!!!!

I am a little stressed because tomorrow I most probably will leave for Africa. Cameroon, I am coming. The last few days were horrible but I survived and now I am ready to take off for my 5 month trip through Africa.

If anyone feels like joining me, just let me know and perhaps we can catch up somewhere.

I wish you all a good time and I will come back in July 2009.

Not so happy anymore.....

Unfortunately I can't send you any sun and warmth from Cameroon, because this is not where I am. Monday February 2nd I got sick in the evening. Well about the "sick" thing I am not sure, but well, I got a real bad headache. On Friday it still wasn't better and I had to take a decision if I could fly or not. So we went to the hospital as my housedoctor is in Zurich. At the hospital they took some blood, but everything was fine. (As usual, actually I could be my own doctor.) But he said that I look very exhausted and that I should not fly like this and that he will make an appointment for me to see an other doctor on Monday.

The weekend was hard but my very good friend came to visit me and I was a little distracted. Monday I went to the doctor and I fell asleep there. Well, they made me wait, what can I do. The thing is that in the morning I always feel a lot better then in the evening. Just like last night, horrible. I was so much in pain and I am also very tired of this situation. But what we found out is that I will stop taking the Malaria Prophylaxe, and hopefully I will feel better.

Today I have another appointment at the doctors and I hope things will get better, as I rescheduled my flight for Tuesday February 17th.

In this case I would like to thank my "Mami" whom is taking so good care of me. I have no idea from where she takes the energy to take care of everything.

yeah!!!

I am so happy. Yesterday I got my visa for Cameroon. Now there is nothing that can hold me back of starting my trip on Sunday February 8th.

Well I still have a few things to organise, but I still have 7 days left, so that should work out. The packing will be a big challenge because hey, Lilian always packs too much.

just another 11 days!!!!

In 11 days I am on my way to Cameroon!!!!!!!!

I am so excited and I am really looking forward to my trip. Last weekend I met a girl which traveled alone through Africa and she said that it was safe. Sure there are things which I shouldn't do like walking alone through the streets by night, taking some funny taxis or wear too much bling bling but hey, I may not be the smartest, but I am not stupid.

Now I am preparing the last details and I am waiting for my visa from Malawi. They say it's better to get the visa before leaving and the bad thing about it is that you have to send the application to Belgium. Well if I get it, I should have it by the end of this week. Then I have to head to the Embassy of Cameroon where things are a little more simple. You can hand in your application in the morning and pick the visa in the afternoon.

I really hope that everything works out well.

Yes, I should be enjoying my days off but at the moment I actually have more stress then when I had my guests.

At the moment I am preparing my trip to Africa. I am so excited, I just booked my flights today and I am in the middle of planning the entire trip. I will be leaving on February 8th to my 1st destination, Douala in Cameroon. There I will go and visit my friend Nembo, his wife Constance and his son, my godson, Damian. As I finally know which countries I want to visit I can start with the research and do some reading. If anybody has some tips and inputs to a country as Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia etc., then please let me know.

Easy Day in SSH with J & D

Today our plan was to do some shopping in the Old Market, also called Old Town or Old Sharm. We did pretty well, bought some scarfs and some faked shoes. I won't go into details about what everything had to be done to get a good price for the shoes........

Last warmth and sunshine for J & D, because tonight they are heading back home to Switzerland. It was lovely having them over and I really had a great time with them.
